HIGH TEMPERATURE THERMAL ENERGY STORAGE

Demonstration plant high temperature thermal energy storage (HTTES), University of Bayreuth, Germany

In 2015, a MW-scale high temperature thermal energy storage system (project name ORCTES) was put into operation on the grounds of the University of Bayreuth. The ORCTES system stores heat at temperatures of up to 600 ° C and converts it back to electricity using an ORC turbine.
